Discover why they call Yorkshire ‘God’s country’! What better way to get close to the action than with a campervan roadtrip. You can even hire a motorhome in Yorkshire to delve into the action with a home on wheels. Here are some of the best reasons to visit Yorkshire in a campervan or motorhome.

Explore the “Yorkshire Dales National Park’

Stretching over 2200km2 of lush country scenery filled with gushing waterfalls, underground caves and wonderful winding roads. The beauty of hiring a motorhome in Yorkshire is that you have the mobility and comfort to get around to all the top sites even over a short period time. Here is what you shouldn’t miss when visiting The Dales!!

Malham Cove

Ready for a lovely afternoon stroll? Be ready for steep steps and quite a few of them! The best approach is to take a good walk around Malham and approach the cove from the top. This makes things easier climbing up the hills and then descending the 300-odd steps instead of the other way! The cove itself is awe inspiring boasting great views from the top and the valley is beautiful to walk through. When visiting Malham cove with a campervan or motorhome make sure you arrive early as the afternoons can become quite busy so secure an early parking spot to avoid disappointment ensure an incredible walk.

Aysgarth Falls

Certainly not as spectacular as the Niagara falls but the Aysgarth falls beams with character and are surrounded by forest and farmland. They are a triple flight of waterfalls with an upper and lower set. The upper falls are near the car park and easy to locate. The lower falls require a stroll along the river to get to but this is well worthwhile. There are plenty of walks around this area. They have routes carved out for casual walkers as well as others who search for a more serious hiking experience. In any case Aysgarth falls is another great excuse to get out and stretch your legs during your motorhome or campervan holiday.

White Scar Cave

You’ve been to the cove, you’ve seen the falls, now it’s time to drive over to White Scar Cave. This cave is the longest show cave in Britain and a guided tour lasts about 80 minutes to allow you to journey this subterranean vault that spans for over a mile. There are some low stretches of the cave during the walk and you may need you to walk at a crouch but they don’t last long and there are hardhats provided so you don't bang your head.

Explore the City of York

Seeking civilization after wandering the beautiful Yorkshire countryside? Hire a campervan and head to York (the capital city….).

National railway museum

This is a great stop for families travelling to York. Take a break from your motorhome or campervan and visit the National Railway Museum and discover why it is an award winning spot. The museum boasts over 300 years of incredible history with giant halls full of trains waiting to be explored. There are railway legends to be told such as one including the Duchess of Hamilton. You can also step into the future aboard the futuristic Japanese Bullet Train, or check out a range of vintage classics with the stunning Royal Trains collection. Get on board awe-inspiring locomotives, watch the real engineers at work in the Workshop, uncover hidden treasures in the Warehouse and make tracks to the outdoor area.

The Shambles

The Shambles is a very popular street in the city centre of York with a long and interesting past. Dating Back to Medieval times it was once the street of the Butcher Shops. Today the Shambles is Europe's most visited street, attracting tourist, shoppers and business clients.
Beautiful old shops with really quaint, typical old English charm! The buildings are amazing and have the most beautiful original features. Great place to spend time and collect some nice items. We got a fair bit of Christmas shopping done whilst we were there. Old fashioned sweet shops, taverns, and cobbled streets make this a great experience!

York Minster

While in York don’t miss out on a visit to the iconic York Minster. Dating back to medieval times, this splendid Church of England cathedral boasts magnificent 14th- and 15th-century stained glass, stonework and beautiful tombs. Take a tour, you won't be sorry, climb the tower if able you won't regret it. The Minster is filled with so much history you could pass hours soaking it all up.
